The COGS Executive Committee is seeking someone to take on the role of Editor of our quarterly magazine, Canberra Organic. This role would suit someone who has a keen interest in editing, publications or media. It involves a time commitment of about 6-8 hours a week during a two-week period each quarter, when editing articles and a few ad-hoc hours of proofreading prior to distribution. It could be shared between two people.

The role of Magazine Editor is voluntary and involves:

  • Curating four editions each year of Canberra Organic (distributed quarterly as Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter editions).
  • Responsibility for editing contributions from our members and other contributors.
  • Liaison with an external paid graphic designer to develop the layout.
  • Liaison with a small group of proofreaders, to provide the final proofread copy.
  • Liaison with the print company and distributor.
  • Management of a small amount of magazine advertising.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Word, Dropbox and Adobe Reader/Pro.
  • Attendance at bi-monthly (usually online) Executive Committee meetings (or provision of a short report) – the Editor is an office holder and part of the COGS Executive Committee.
  • Work with the COGS Information Officer who manages COGS’ social media platforms and the Web manager to post the magazine and articles.

Expressions of interest, outlining your experience should be addressed to Neil Williams, President of COGS and sent via email to president@cogs.asn.au. You can also contact Neil on 0411 286 246 to discuss the role in more detail.
