Potential vacancy – COGS Magazine Editor

The COGS Executive is seeking someone to take on the role of Magazine Editor at its Annual General Meeting in March 2023. 

This role will suit someone seeking to gain board/committee experience, someone who has a keen interest in editing, publications or media.

This role could be undertaken by someone who works part-time, is retired or could be shared between two people. This involves a time commitment of about 6-8 hours a week, for two-week periods in each quarter, when editing articles and a few ad-hoc hours of proofreading prior to distribution.

The role of Magazine Editor is voluntary and involves:

  • Development of Canberra Organic (distributed quarterly).
  • Responsibility for editing contributions from our members
  • Liaison with an external graphic designer who develops the layout
  • Liaison with a small group of proofreaders, who provide the final proofread
  • Liaison with the print company and distributor
  • Management of magazine advertising
  • Understanding of Microsoft Word, Dropbox and Adobe Reader/Pro
  • Attendance at monthly (usually online) Executive Committee meetings (or provision of a short report)
  • Management of the COGS Instagram page.
